Shunt Boxes

Trackside shunt enclosures built to protect connections, organize cable routing, and support railroad signal operations.

SHUNT BOXES FOR RAIL SIGNAL APPLICATIONS

Serrmi manufactures shunt boxes and shunt termination enclosures for railroad signal applications where cable routing, connection protection, and field access need to be organized in a durable trackside enclosure. Available in single, double, triple, and project-specific configurations, these boxes can be built for new installations or replacement needs. With steel or aluminum construction, powder coat or bare finish options, standard sign pole mounting hardware, cable entry openings, and lockable access, Serrmi shunt boxes are designed to support practical installation and long-term signal maintenance in the field.

Single, Double & Triple Configurations

Serrmi shunt boxes are available in single, double, and triple configurations, with additional project-specific options available to support varied field requirements. Each configuration is developed for clean cable management, dependable termination, and proper alignment with the signal system layout.

Steel or Aluminum Construction

Shunt boxes are available in steel or aluminum, with powder coat or bare finish options. Steel units provide a durable enclosure option for trackside use, while aluminum units offer a lightweight alternative for easier handling and corrosion resistance in outdoor rail environments.

Standard Pole Mounting & Cable Entry

Serrmi shunt boxes are supplied with 3/8” mounting hardware for standard sign-pole attachment and two 1 1/2” bottom openings for shunt cable routing. The standard design delivers consistent mounting, organized cable entry, and practical field access for rail signal applications.

Lockable, Lightweight Field Design

Shunt boxes can be secured with up to 3/8” padlocks to help protect connection points in the field. Steel units weigh approximately 11.5 lbs., while aluminum units weigh approximately 4.5 lbs., giving crews options based on handling, durability, and installation needs.
